Many people ask me what googas is, besides me, and where the name comes from, so I decided to explain the sacred origns of googas. I hope to clear things up and in turn make you love googas even more!
Where did it all start?
It started with the big floppa meme, an ironic meme, turned feline universe based around a caracal. The pet caracal’s name is Gosha, and can be found on instagram @bigfloppa.gosha, but online is also referenced as Gregory.
During the pandemic, this guy was a more popular meme, as he had emerged in 2019 and his universe had expanded into one of many cats. One of them included Googas, a silly feline. Other more noteable members of the FCU (flopper cinematic universe) include Spoingus and Bingus.
Memes like this were popular, as cat memes have always been a staple on the the internet, and more funny cats arose and were given equally fitting names.
At the time, I was in my freshman year of college and relied heavily on Discord to socialize and meet new people. Eventually there was an established group of us who always talked, and so as this meme was popular them, we all had assigned ourselves as one of the cats. I chose googas and the rest was history.
Googas specifically is this cat, a cat sitting under s stream of water. It can also be seen below that googas is dually another caracal, though why these differences occur are unknown to me. However the cat under the faucet is the more well-known googas.
So after I chose googas in that infamous group chat, it became my internet name, and then one restless day I decided to make an art account, @googas2. I had started to draw more and make zines, and this started to become my artist name, and eventually a nickname. Now online I’m @googasnation, but I’ll always be googas.
