Marie (they/she), better known online as Googas, is a Mexican-American artist and poet from southeast Los Angeles. Googas delights in writing poems and prose to help articulate the soul’s innermost sentiments. Combined with physical or digital media, her work often takes the shape of collages: ones weaved with their drawings, words, and love. More specifically, their words are crafted for the painfully sensitive and soft-hearted- people who appreciate how writing can serve as an outlet for intense emotions and love.
Marie writes of the connection between celestial, cosmic spaces, natural life on Earth, and human nature. Googas has self-published several zines ranging from grief and suburbia’s complex tenderness to the contentions between a despairing mind and a hopeful heart. Their works have been published in UCLA’s FEM NewsMagazine, Same Faces Collective, and Death of a Rabbit Magazine. They also hope to make the world a sweeter and softer place.
